Analysis on Sec-Butyl Acetate Export Data (Jan-Sept, 2017)

The export volume of Chinese sec-butyl ACETATE decreased for nearly three years. It is predicted that the export volume will be only around 145kt in 2017. From 2015, both export volume and average export price of sec-Butyl Acetate were on low levels. In 2016, the Chinese and international sec-butyl acetate markets were bleak and the export price hit a historically low. The reasons were as follows: firstly, cruel oil price decreased greatly in H2, 2014; secondly, Chinese sec-butyl acetate operating rate declined sharply; lastly, RMB market price was weak. In 2017, both raw material cost and Chinese supply declined, which brought the sec-butyl acetate price to stay on a high level. Furthermore, as international cruel oil price ran upwards, the average export price of sec-butyl acetate rebounded. It is predicted that the average export price of sec-butyl acetate will be around $596/mt in 2017.

Singapore, Vietnam and Malaysia were the main importers that occupy the top three position in China’s sec-butyl acetate market. On one hand, the use restriction of sec-butyl acetate is less in these countries’ oil market. On the other hand, as Singapore, Vietnam and Malaysia are closer to China, the transportation is convenient.

From January to September, 2017, there were 47.51% of products sec-butyl acetate exported via Nanjing Customs. There were 23.43% and 12.66% of products exported via Jiulong Customs and Changsha Customs respectively.
