Can minors pick up prescriptions for themselves or others?

Of course they can. You should not be asking this type of question as a pharmacist. It's common sense

My state doesn’t have any age restrictions as far as I know, but there are some pharmacists that won’t allow controlled substances to be sold to minors and others will. It seems kind of silly to turn away a 16 year old picking up their Adderall with a valid ID.

Now if it is an RX for a minor that is a controlled substance, they can pick it up as long as they have a valid state-issued ID (doesn't have to be DL) but usually the parents pick those up. If it's not, then as long as they can give me the name and correct DOB for the patient, and there are no notes saying that only certain people can pick up, I don't worry about who they are.

We also had a child come with the grandpa cause he has dementia and couldn't remember or lose scripts. Wife was wheelchair bound and they didn't have much family around when during our business hours. That kid was basically his guide dog cause they'd leashed him with his grandfather.

I probably fell into the "medical emergency" category.

Pharmacist here from the USA. I will allow anyone to pick up meds for anyone else as long as the person picking up knows the information of the patient (and has proper ID if needed for c2 amd sketchy c3-5 rxs) and the patient has not previously asked us to withhold medication for pickup (drama between exes or family).
