What is the sequence equation between ethanol and butanoic acid?

Chemistry point  Follow

The reaction between butanol ( butyl alcohol) and acetic acid is an esterification reaction typically using sulfuric acid as a catalyst and operating under reflux conditions with removal of by product water overhead.

Same situation with ethanol as the alcohol.

Because excess water is a “brake” to the reaction acetic anhydride may be used instead of acetic acid.

The equation for the reaction between ethanol and butanoic acid is:
CH₃CH₂OH(ℓ) + CH₃CH₂CH₂COOH(ℓ) CH₃CH₂CH₂COOCH₂CH₃(ℓ) + H₂O(ℓ)

However, the term "sequence equation" is meaningless.
