What is the synthesis of crotonophenone?

Dewan Nirjhor  Follow

First step: Reaction of crotonic acid (2-butenoic acid) with thionyl chloride (SOCl2) to produce crotonyl chloride.

Second step: Reaction of crotonyl chloride with benzene and anhydrous aluminum chloride catalyst to yield the product (also called 1-phenyl-2-buten-1-one).

The synthesis of complex molecules from simple molecules such as sugars or amino acids, as opposed to recycling after partial dedradration. For example nucleotides are not needed in the diet as they can be contracted from small precursor molecules such as format and aspartate. In de novo synthesis of pyrimidine, the ring is synthesized first then it is attached to the ribose to form the pyrimidine nucleotide.
