Shingles
Herpes zoster (HZ) is an acute herpetic skin disease caused by varicella-zoster virus (VZV). It is characterized by clustered blisters distributed in a band-like pattern along the peripheral nerves on one side of the body, accompanied by significant neuralgia and local lymphadenopathy, and rarely relapses after healing. Herpes zoster patients generally gain lifelong immunity to the virus.
