Tension headaches
Tension headache, also known as muscle contraction headache, is the most common type of headache. It is generally believed that its prevalence is higher than that of migraine, accounting for about half of the outpatient headache patients. It is mainly caused by the continuous contraction of the neck and facial muscles, which produces a sense of oppression and heaviness in the head. Some patients complain that their heads feel "tightened".
