Deformative dystonia in children
Deformative dystonia, also known as idiopathic torsion myodystonia, was once called deformative dystonia. It is a group of common extrapyramidal diseases characterized by the simultaneous and continuous involuntary contraction of the agonist and antagonist muscles at the beginning of active movement, presenting a special twisting posture or position. The abnormal movement of this disease mainly starts with local dystonia and gradually develops into systemic dystonia. Due to the early onset age of this disease, it is now often called early-onset torsion myodystonia, and the inheritance mode is autosomal dominant.
