Vulvovaginitis in young girls
Vaginitis in young girls often coexists with vulvitis. Because young girls have poor vulvar development, lack estrogen, and have low resistance of vaginal epithelium, they are susceptible to infection. Common pathogens include Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, and Escherichia coli, and Trichomonas or Candida can also cause infection. Pathogens can be transmitted through the clothes and bathtubs of sick mothers, childcare workers, or kindergarten children. It can also be caused by poor hygiene, unclean vulva, frequent contamination by feces, or direct contact with dirt.
