Scarlet fever
Scarlet fever is an acute rash-causing respiratory infectious disease caused by group A beta-hemolytic streptococci. Chinese medicine calls it "rotten throat sha", which mainly occurs in winter and spring. People of any age can get sick, but babies aged 2 to 8 are most susceptible to infection. Clinically, it is characterized by fever, pharyngitis, diffuse scarlet rash on the whole body, and skin desquamation after the rash subsides. A few people may develop allergic heart and kidney complications after the disease.
