Bronchiectasis refers to the persistent expansion and deformation of the bronchial lumen in the lungs. Chronic inflammation of the bronchi and their surrounding tissues and bronchial obstruction lead to serious pathological damage to the bronchial wall tissue structure. The fibrous remodeling of the wall and abnormal expansion of the bronchi are clinically manifested as chronic cough, large amounts of purulent sputum or repeated hemoptysis. In the late stage, it may be complicated by pulmonary fibrosis, emphysema, cor pulmonale, respiratory failure, etc.
