Acute fatty liver of pregnancy, also known as acute pseudo-yellow hepatic atrophy in obstetrics, is a rare fatal disease unique to late pregnancy. The disease has an acute onset and changes rapidly, and its clinical manifestations are similar to fulminant hepatitis. Previous literature reports that the maternal and infant mortality rates are 75% and 85%, respectively. However, if early diagnosis, early treatment, and timely termination of pregnancy can be achieved, the maternal mortality rate can be reduced, and the infant mortality rate can be reduced to 58.3%.
