Open pneumothorax
Open pneumothorax refers to a pneumothorax in which the air leakage channel that causes the pneumothorax is continuously open, and the gas enters and exits the pleural cavity with breathing. The cause of open pneumothorax is chest trauma, which is common in car accidents, gunshot wounds, and explosive injuries that cause chest wall defects, and the pleural cavity communicates with the outside world, allowing air to escape through chest wounds, lung, tracheal and esophageal ruptures or soft tissue defects, and freely enter and exit the pleural cavity with breathing, causing the normal negative pressure to disappear.
