Acute mediastinitis
Mediastinitis refers to bacterial infection in the mediastinum, which can be divided into acute and chronic. Acute mediastinitis often forms abscesses and is a serious condition. Chronic mediastinitis is mostly granuloma-like, often caused by primary tuberculosis or histoplasmosis infection, with a slow onset and often asymptomatic. It is found during X-ray examination. A small number of patients may also develop corresponding symptoms and signs due to obstruction or compression caused by the lesion.
