Lymphedema refers to a pathological condition in which a defect in the lymphatic system in a part of the human body causes obstruction and reflux of lymph fluid, resulting in accumulation of fluid in the superficial soft tissue of the limb, followed by hyperplasia of fibrous connective tissue, fat sclerosis, fascia thickening and thickening of the entire affected limb.
