Sinus tachycardia in children
Sinus tachycardia refers to an increase in the beat frequency of the sinoatrial node. It is a normal compensatory reaction of the body and often occurs when one has a fever, cries, exercises or is emotionally nervous. The heart rate of an infant is over 140 beats per minute, over 120 beats per minute for children aged 1 to 6 years, and over 100 beats per minute for children over 6 years old. The P wave is sinus, which is sinus tachycardia.
