Medulloblastoma
Medulloblastoma was first reported by Bailey and Cushing in 1925. It is an intracranial malignant tumor that is common in children and one of the most malignant neuroepithelial tumors in the central nervous system. Some people believe that its occurrence is the result of the failure of primitive medullary epithelium to differentiate further. This tumor originating from embryonic residual cells can occur in any part of the brain tissue, but most of them grow in the cerebellar vermis above the roof of the fourth ventricle. The main manifestations are cerebellar symptoms such as increased intracranial pressure and ataxia, often with diplopia and multiple cranial nerve disorders. Cerebellar tonsil herniation often causes neck stiffness and torticollis. Because the tumor grows extremely rapidly, it is not easy to be completely removed by surgery and has a tendency to disseminate along the cerebrospinal fluid.
