Ischemic optic neuropathy
Ischemic optic neuropathy refers to an acute malnutrition disease in which the nutrient vessels of the optic nerve have circulation disorders. In the past, this disease was often misdiagnosed as intracranial tumors or optic disc inflammation. Generally, it is divided into two types clinically: anterior segment and posterior segment ischemic optic neuropathy, based on the point where the central retinal artery enters the optic nerve about 9 to 11 mm behind the eye. It is the most common cause of optic disc edema in people over 50 years old.
