| Vinorelbine tartrate |
The anti-tumor activity of vinorelbine is believed to be mainly inhibited by interfering with tubulin in metaphase mitosis. Similar to other vinca alkaloids, vinorelbine can also interfere with: 1) the metabolism of amino acids, cyclic AMP and glutathione; 2) calmodulin-dependent calcium ion transport ATPase activity; 3) cellular respiration; 4) nucleic acid and lipid biosynthesis. In mouse intact embryo culture, vinorelbine inhibited microtubule formation at the same concentration (2uM), including blocking the metaphase division of cells. These data indicate that vinorelbine has a relatively selective effect on microtubules in metaphase of mitosis.
