Thyroid tablets

Function and Efficacy

This product is a thyroid hormone drug. The main ingredients of this product are thyroid hormones including thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). It has the function of promoting catabolism (heat-raising effect) and anabolism, and has an important influence on the normal metabolism and growth and development of the human body. It is very important for the development of the central nervous system of infants and young children. The basic function of thyroid hormone is to induce the synthesis of new proteins including special enzyme systems, and regulate the metabolism of three major substances: protein, carbohydrates and fats, as well as water, salt and vitamins. Because thyroid hormones induce the synthesis of cell membrane Na-K pumps and enhance their activity, energy metabolism is enhanced. Thyroid hormones (mainly T3) bind to specific receptors in the nucleus, and the latter undergo conformational changes to form dimers. The activated receptors bind to specific receptors on DNA.

In addition, elderly patients have poor cardiovascular function and should use it with caution.

Drug Interactions

1. Diabetic patients taking thyroid hormones should appropriately increase the dose of insulin or hypoglycemic drugs depending on their blood sugar levels. 2. When thyroid hormones are used in combination with anticoagulants such as dicoumarol, the latter's anticoagulant effect is enhanced, which may cause bleeding; the dose of anticoagulants should be adjusted according to the prothrombin time. 3. When this type of drug is used in combination with tricyclic antidepressants, the effects and toxic side effects of both types of drugs are enhanced, so attention should be paid to adjusting the dose. 4. For those taking estrogen or contraceptives, the level of thyroxine-binding globulin in the blood increases, so the dose of thyroid hormone should be appropriately adjusted when used together. 5. Cholestyramine or colestipol
