Jinkui Shenqi Pills
Function and Efficacy
In Shenqi Pills, Liuwei Dihuang Pills are used to nourish the Yin of the liver and kidneys, and Fuzi and Guizhi are used to strengthen the Yang of the kidneys. The method of seeking Yang from Yin is used to achieve the purpose of warming and nourishing the kidney Yang, "Yang is helped by Yin and has infinite life." The ratio of Fuzi and Guizhi used to warm and nourish the kidney Yang to Liuwei Dihuang Pills used to nourish the Yin of the liver and kidneys is 1:12.5, and the amount of Fuzi and Guizhi used is less than 1/8 of the whole prescription. This reflects the TCM theory of "less fire generates more energy", and also shows that this prescription is intended to slowly generate kidney Qi, rather than to quickly strengthen kidney Yang.
