Function and Efficacy
The main effects are antitussive and expectorant, antibacterial and antipyretic. 1 Antitussive and expectorant: The total alkaloids and non-alkaloid parts of licorice and Fritillaria cirrhosa have antitussive effects. 2 Antibacterial and antibacterial: Anemarrhena decoction has different degrees of inhibitory effects on Shigella dysenteriae, Salmonella typhi, Salmonella paratyphi, Vibrio cholerae, Escherichia coli, Proteus, Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Staphylococcus, Pneumococcus, beta-hemolytic Streptococcus, and Candida albicans. Ophiopogon japonicus, white peony root, and asparagus also have different degrees of antibacterial effects on a variety of bacteria. 3 Antipyretic: Subcutaneous injection of Anemarrhena extract can stop artificial fever in rabbits. Paeoniflorin in white peony root has a cooling effect on normal mice and also has an antipyretic effect on mice with artificial fever.
