Function and Efficacy
Cefuroxil is a first-generation oral cephalosporin with good antibacterial effect on most strains of penicillinase-producing and non-penicillinase-producing Staphylococcus aureus, coagulase-negative Staphylococcus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, group A hemolytic Streptococcus, etc. It also has certain antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, Salmonella, Shigella, Haemophilus influenzae, and gonococci. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococci, Enterococci, indole-positive Proteus, Enterobacter, Serratia and other Enterobacteriaceae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Bacteroides fragilis are resistant to this product.
Ingredients
The main ingredient of this product is cefadroxil, and its chemical name is (6R,7R)-3-methyl-7-[(R)-2-amino-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)acetylamino]-8-oxo-5-thia-1-azabicyclo[4.2.0]oct-2-ene-2-carboxylic acid monohydrate.

Appearance

Indication
It is mainly used for urinary tract infections caused by sensitive bacteria, such as urethritis, cystitis, prostatitis, pyelonephritis, gonorrhea; respiratory tract infections, such as pneumonia, sinusitis, bronchitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis; skin and soft tissue infections, such as cellulitis, furunculosis; otitis media, etc.
Usage and Dosage
1. Common dosage for adults: Oral, 0.5-1.0g once, twice a day. 2. Common dosage for children: 15-20mg/kg once, twice a day. Group A hemolytic streptococcal pharyngitis and tonsillitis: 15mg/kg every 12 days, with a course of treatment of at least 10 days; the first dose for adults with renal impairment is 1g saturation dose, and then the dosing interval is extended according to the degree of renal impairment. When the creatinine clearance rate is 25-50ml/min, 10-25ml/min and 0-10ml/min, take 500mg at the 12th hour, 24th hour and 36th hour respectively.
Adverse Reactions
The incidence of adverse reactions of this product is about 5%, mainly gastrointestinal reactions such as nausea and upper abdominal discomfort, and a few patients may also have allergic reactions such as rashes. Anaphylactic shock may occur occasionally, and urea nitrogen, serum aminotransferase, and serum alkaline phosphatase may also increase transiently.
Precautions
It is contraindicated for patients with a history of allergy to cephalosporins and a history of anaphylactic shock or immediate reaction to penicillin.
Special Population Medication
Precautions for children: This experiment has not been conducted and there are no reliable references. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: Pregnant women must have specific indications for medication. This product can also enter breast milk. Although there are no reports of problems with the use of cephalosporins in lactating women, it is still necessary to weigh the pros and cons before using it. Drug Interactions
Probenecid can increase the blood concentration of this product and delay renal excretion.
