Cefuroxime Sodium for Injection
Function and Efficacy
This product has a broad spectrum of antibacterial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, especially Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Haemophilus influenzae, Proteus and Bacteroides fragilis. Its mechanism of action is to show a strong affinity for penicillin-binding protein, which is the usual action point of beta-lactam antibiotics, inhibit cell wall synthesis, bind to peptidoglycan, inhibit the binding of peptidoglycan to lipoprotein to promote bacteriolysis, and show a strong bactericidal effect in a short time. This product also shows antibacterial effect on bacteria during the proliferation period and the early stage of the stable period, and has a bactericidal effect at concentrations lower than the MIC, and lyses bacteria in a short time. The antibacterial effect in vivo is stronger than the prediction of MIC.

Indication
This product can be used to treat the following infections caused by the above-mentioned sensitive bacteria: 1. Respiratory system infections: tonsillitis, peritonsillar abscess, bronchitis, bronchiolitis, bronchiectasis (when infected), secondary infection of chronic respiratory diseases, pneumonia, pulmonary suppuration; 2. Urinary system infections: pyelonephritis, cystitis; 3. Abdominal infections: cholecystitis, cholangitis, peritonitis; 4. Pelvic infections: pelvic peritonitis, adnexitis, intrauterine infection, pelvic dead cavity inflammation, parametrial tissue inflammation; 5. Sepsis.
Usage and Dosage
Adults: 1g (potency) each time, twice a day. The dosage can be increased or decreased according to age and symptoms. For sepsis, refractory or severe infections, the dosage can be increased to 6g (potency) per day, divided into 3-4 doses. Children: 20mg (potency)/kg each time, 3-4 times a day.
Adverse Reactions
Occasionally it may cause shock, so you should pay attention to observation. If the patient has discomfort, abnormal sensation in the mouth, wheezing, dizziness, urge to defecate, tinnitus, or sweating, the drug should be discontinued and appropriately handled. Occasionally, pancytopenia, granulocytopenia, eosinophilia, erythropenia, decreased hematocrit value, decreased hemoglobin, thrombocytopenia, and prolonged prothrombin time may occur, so regular inspections and careful observations should be performed. If abnormalities occur, the drug should be discontinued and appropriately handled. Occasionally, severe colitis with bloody stools, such as pseudomembranous colitis, may occur. If abdominal pain or frequent diarrhea occurs, the drug should be discontinued and appropriately handled. Sometimes allergies occur, with visible rashes, redness, itching, and fever. Occasionally, there are manifestations of renal impairment, such as increased BUN, increased creatinine in the blood, oliguria, and proteinuria. Sometimes, GOT, GPT, and AL-P increase, and occasionally gamma; -GTP, LAP, LDH, bilirubin increase, and jaundice occur. Sometimes diarrhea occurs, and occasionally nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, stomatitis, and candidiasis occur. Symptoms of vitamin K deficiency (hypoprothrombinosis, bleeding tendency) and vitamin B deficiency (glossitis, stomatitis, loss of appetite, neuritis) may occur occasionally. A feeling of general fatigue may occur occasionally. When the creatinine value is tested by the Jaffe reaction, the apparent creatinine value may be elevated. The direct Coombs test may be positive.
Precautions
It is contraindicated in patients with a history of allergic reactions to cefuroxime or cephem antibiotics.
Drug Interactions
When used with diuretics, it may enhance renal toxicity. Animal experiments (rats) have confirmed that this drug can affect alcohol metabolism, increase the concentration of acetaldehyde in the blood, and show a disulfiram-like effect.
Storage
Keep away from light and store in sealed container.
