Tobramycin eye drops
Function and Efficacy
1. In vitro experiments show that tobramycin has special effects on the following bacteria: Staphylococci: Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis and penicillin-resistant bacteria. Streptococci: Group A hemolytic streptococci, non-hemolytic streptococci and Streptococcus pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis (indole-negative) and indole-positive Proteus, Haemophilus influenzae and Haemophilus conjunctivitis, Moraxella conjunctivitis, Acinetobacter calcoaceticus (Herelle avaginacola), Neisseria. 2. Bacterial sensitivity experiments show that bacteria resistant to gentamicin are still sensitive to tobramycin. No bacteria resistant to tobramycin have been found so far, but long-term use may produce bacterial resistance.

Appearance
This product is a colorless to slightly yellow clear liquid.
Indication
This product is suitable for local anti-infection treatment of sensitive bacterial strains in the external eye and its appendages. When using tobramycin, attention should be paid to the control of bacterial infection.
Usage and Dosage
1. For patients with mild and moderate infections, apply about 1.5 cm of ointment to the affected eye 2 to 3 times a day, and reduce the amount after the condition improves. 2. Tobramycin eye drops can be used in combination with eye ointment, that is, use eye drops during the day and eye ointment at night.
Adverse Reactions
Common adverse reactions are local toxic side effects and allergic reactions in the eye, such as itchy and red eyelids, and conjunctival erythema, with an incidence rate of less than 3%. These adverse reactions can also occur with topical application of other aminoglycoside antibiotics. There are no clinical reports of other adverse reactions to tobramycin. However, if tobramycin ointment is used in combination with systemic aminoglycoside antibiotics, the total drug concentration in the serum should be monitored.
Precautions
Patients who are allergic to this product or other aminoglycoside antibiotics are contraindicated.
Special Population Medication
Precautions for children: Because this product has potential nephrotoxicity and ototoxicity, it should be used with caution in children. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: Pregnant women: Reproductive experiments on three animals using tobramycin at a dose 33 times that of human systemic medication did not show decreased fertility or fetal damage. However, there is currently no conclusive clinical research report on pregnant women, so pregnant women should only use this product when it is really necessary. Lactating women: Because of the potential for adverse reactions during breastfeeding, it is recommended to stop breastfeeding or stop taking the drug based on clinical considerations. Precautions for the elderly: Because this product has potential nephrotoxicity and ototoxicity, it should be used with caution in elderly patients.
