Function and Efficacy

This product is a semi-synthetic penicillin, which has good antibacterial effect on Gram-positive bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It can produce synergistic effect when used in combination with amikacin, gentamicin and netilmicin.

Appearance

This product is white or off-white powder or loose lumps.

Indication

It is mainly used for various infections caused by sensitive Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections, including sepsis, meningitis, endocarditis, purulent pleurisy, peritonitis and infections of the lower respiratory tract, gastrointestinal tract, bile duct, urinary tract, bone and soft tissue and reproductive organs, gynecological and obstetric infections, malignant otitis externa, burns, skin and surgical infections, etc.

Usage and Dosage

Add to appropriate amount of 5% glucose sodium chloride injection or 5-10% glucose injection, and drip intravenously. Adults take 6-10g a day, and in severe cases, it can be increased to 10-16g, usually dripped in 2-4 times. Children take 75mg/kg per time according to body weight, and infants and newborns take 100mg/kg per time according to body weight, dripped in 2-4 times.

Adverse Reactions

Adverse reactions similar to those of penicillin are mainly allergic reactions (such as itching, urticaria, etc.). Other reactions include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, fever, and in some cases, prolonged bleeding time and leukocytopenia may be seen. Electrolyte disorders (hypernatremia) are less common.

Precautions

It is contraindicated for patients who are allergic to penicillin antibiotics.

Drug Interactions

1. Antibiotics such as chloramphenicol, erythromycin, tetracyclines and antibacterial agents such as sulfonamides can interfere with the bactericidal activity of this product and should not be used in combination with this product, especially in the treatment of meningitis or serious infections that urgently require bactericides. 2. Probenecid, aspirin, indomethacin, phenylbutazone, and sulfonamides can reduce the excretion of this product from the kidneys. Therefore, when used in combination with this product, its blood concentration will increase, the excretion time will be prolonged, and the toxicity may also increase. 3. This product is incompatible with heavy metals, especially copper, zinc and mercury, because the latter can destroy its oxidized thiazole ring. Rubber tubes or bottle stoppers made of zinc compounds can also affect its activity. Acidic glucose injection or tetracycline injection can destroy its activity. It can also be an oxidizing agent, a reducing agent or a hydroxylating agent.
