Drug Interactions

1. Benzenesulfonic acid can reduce the secretion of amoxicillin and dicloxacillin sodium in the renal tubules. Co-use can prolong the half-life of amoxicillin and dicloxacillin sodium. 2. The combined use of allopurinol and ampicillin can significantly increase the occurrence of rash compared with the use of ampicillin alone. It is not known whether the increase in rash is caused by allopurinol or by excessive toxin components in the urine. There is no data to suggest that allopurinol and amoxicillin and dicloxacillin sodium can be used together. Amoxicillin and dicloxacillin sodium should not be used together with disulfiram.
