Prednisolone tablets

Function and Efficacy

This product is an acetanilide antipyretic analgesic. It inhibits the prostaglandin synthase in the hypothalamic temperature regulation center, reduces the synthesis and release of prostaglandin PGE1, causes peripheral vasodilation and sweating, and achieves an antipyretic effect. Its antipyretic effect is similar to that of aspirin; it inhibits the synthesis and release of prostaglandins PGE1, bradykinin and histamine, increases the pain threshold and plays an analgesic role. It is a peripheral analgesic, weaker than aspirin, and is only effective for mild and moderate pain. This product has no obvious anti-inflammatory effect. Acute toxicity test results: The oral LD50 of mice is 338mg/kg, and the intraperitoneal injection LD50 is 500mg/kg.

Adverse Reactions

At conventional doses, acetaminophen has few adverse reactions, and may occasionally cause nausea, vomiting, sweating, abdominal pain, pale skin, etc. In a few cases, allergic dermatitis (rash, itchy skin, etc.), granulocytopenia, thrombocytopenia, anemia, liver damage, etc. may occur, and it rarely causes gastrointestinal bleeding.

Special Population Medication

Precautions for children: Children should be very cautious when using adrenocortical hormones for a long time, because hormones can inhibit the growth and development of children. If long-term use is necessary, short-acting (such as cortisone) or medium-acting preparations (such as prednisone) should be used, and long-acting preparations (such as dexamethasone) should be avoided. Oral medium-acting preparations every other day can reduce the inhibitory effect on growth. Children or adolescents who use glucocorticoids for a long time must be closely observed, and the risk of osteoporosis, avascular necrosis of the femoral head, glaucoma, and cataracts in children is increased. In addition to the general age and weight, the dosage of hormones for children should be determined according to the severity of the disease and the child's response to treatment. For the treatment of children with adrenocortical insufficiency, the dosage of hormones should be determined according to the body surface area, otherwise overdose is likely to occur, especially during pregnancy and lactation. Precautions: Use by pregnant women can increase the incidence of placental insufficiency, neonatal weight loss or stillbirth. Animal experiments have teratogenic effects, so the pros and cons should be weighed. If a nursing mother receives a large dose of the drug, she should not breastfeed to prevent the drug from being excreted through breast milk, which may cause adverse reactions such as growth inhibition and adrenal function suppression in infants. Precautions for the elderly: The use of glucocorticoids is prone to high blood pressure, and elderly patients, especially postmenopausal women, are prone to osteoporosis.

Drug Interactions

(1) Long-term use of this product by patients who drink or use other liver enzyme inducers, especially barbiturates or anticonvulsants, may increase the risk of liver toxicity. (2) When used in combination with chloramphenicol, this product can prolong the half-life of the latter and enhance its toxicity. (3) When used in combination with anticoagulants, it can enhance the anticoagulant effect, so the dosage of anticoagulants should be adjusted. (4) When used in combination with aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for a long time, there is a significant risk of increased renal toxicity. (5) When used in combination with the antiviral drug Zidovudine, this product can increase its toxicity and should be avoided at the same time.
