Function and Efficacy

Tianeptine is an antidepressant. Appearance

This medicine is a white film-coated tablet.

Indication

It is recommended for the treatment of mild, moderate or severe depression, neurogenic and reactive depression, anxiety and depression caused by physical discomfort, especially gastrointestinal discomfort, and anxiety and depression in alcohol-dependent patients during withdrawal.

Usage and Dosage

The recommended dose is 12.5 mg/time, taken orally 3 times a day before the main meals in the morning, afternoon and evening. Chronic alcoholics, regardless of whether they have liver cirrhosis, do not need to adjust the dose. For patients over 70 years old and with renal insufficiency, the dose is limited to 2 tablets per day. Stop treatment and monitor closely, immediately perform gastric lavage, perform cardiopulmonary, metabolic and renal function monitoring, and treat symptomatically for possible abnormalities, paying special attention to ventilation, and correcting metabolic and renal function abnormalities.

Adverse Reactions

Rare, usually mild upper abdominal discomfort, abdominal pain, dry mouth, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, constipation, bloating; insomnia, drowsiness, nightmares, weakness; tachycardia, premature contractions, pain behind the sternum; dizziness, headache, syncope, tremor, fever and flushing; dyspnea, itchy throat; myalgia, back pain.

Drug Interactions

Avoid co-administration with non-selective MAOIs because of the risk of shock or paroxysmal hypertension, hyperthermia, convulsions, and death. Patients using MAOIs must stop taking them for 2 weeks before taking tianeptine; MAOIs can be used 24 hours after stopping tianeptine. Salicylic acid can reduce the protein binding rate of this drug, so it is recommended to reduce the dosage of this drug when taking high doses of salicylic acid at the same time.
