Sultamicillin Tosirate Capsules

Function and Efficacy

Sultamicillin is a tosylate of sultamicillin synthesized by esterification of the beta-lactamase inhibitor sulbactam and the beta-lactam antibiotic ampicillin. It is a new oral antibiotic resistant to beta-lactamase. The enzyme inhibition of sulbactam can protect ampicillin from the destruction of B-lactamase secreted by resistant bacteria, thereby improving the antibacterial activity of ampicillin and making it an acid-resistant and enzyme-resistant high-efficiency antibiotic. The efficacy is 4-8 times stronger than ampicillin. It is effective against infections caused by ampicillin-resistant bacteria. Ampicillin is the bactericidal component of this product. It acts on the active reproduction stage of bacteria and has a bactericidal effect by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell wall mucopeptides. Sulbactam is a competitive irreversible B-lactamase inhibitor. It is used in combination with ampicillin to synergize its antibacterial effect. After oral administration, this product is hydrolyzed into sulbactam and ampicillin by enterolactone in the intestinal wall. The bioavailability is 80% of that of intravenous injection. Taking it after meals does not affect its absorption. 50%-75% of this product is excreted in the urine in the original form.
