Fluorescein Sodium Injection
Function and Efficacy
This product is a diagnostic drug and a dye. It cannot dye normal corneal epithelium, but can dye damaged corneal epithelium green, thus showing corneal damage, ulcers and other lesions. When this product flows through small blood vessels, it can pass through thinner blood vessel walls and mucous membranes under ultraviolet or blue light excitation to show green fluorescence, thus showing the course and morphology of small blood vessels, etc., which can be used for fundus angiography and circulation time measurement. This product can hardly pass through the blood-brain barrier, but its content in cerebrospinal fluid increases in tuberculous meningitis. Determining the content of this product in cerebrospinal fluid after intramuscular injection is helpful for the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of tuberculous meningitis.

Appearance
This product is a brown clear liquid.
Indication
Diagnostic medicine. It is used for diagnosing corneal injuries, ulcers and foreign bodies, fundus angiography and circulation time measurement. It is also used for displaying gallbladder and bile duct during surgery, and for auxiliary diagnosis of tuberculous meningitis.
Usage and Dosage
1. Determination of circulation time. Injection through forearm vein. The common dosage for adults is 5 ml (10%). The common dosage for children is 0.05 ml/kg (10%) according to body weight. The whole dosage is pushed in within 1 second. 2. Intravenous injection for fundus angiography. The common dosage for adults is 5 ml (10%), or calculated according to body weight of 15-30 mg/kg. The whole dosage is pushed in about 4 seconds. 8 seconds after injection, continuous photography is performed with a fluorescent fundus camera under blue light wave excitation. The first is 1 frame per second for 10 seconds. Films are taken at appropriate intervals within 30 minutes. Direct observation can also be performed with an ophthalmoscope. 3. Intravenous injection of 5 ml (10%) is performed 4 hours before the operation to show gallbladder and bile duct. 4. Cerebrospinal fluid permeability test (diagnosis of tuberculous meningitis) is injected intramuscularly. The recommended dosage for adults is 5-10 ml (10%). The recommended dosage for children is 0.3 ml/kg (10%) based on body weight. Cerebrospinal fluid is drawn by lumbar puncture 2 hours after injection and compared with a standard series of colorimetric tubes with concentrations of 0.00001%, 0.00002%, 0.00003%, 0.00005%, 0.00006%, 0.0001%, 0.0002% and 0.0005%.
Adverse Reactions
Allergic reactions to this product include: urticaria, dyspnea, asthma attack, respiratory arrest, decreased blood pressure, shock, cardiac arrest, myocardial infarction, pulmonary edema and cerebral infarction. Common reactions include nausea, vomiting and dizziness, which usually occur within 30 seconds after injection. The incidence and severity of reactions are related to the concentration and injection volume of the injection. The intravenous injection volume is 5ml (5%), and nausea and vomiting symptoms may often occur. The total incidence of reactions during angiography of this product is about 0.6%, and severe reactions are about 0.4%. Local pain may occur after intramuscular injection. After intravenous injection, the skin and urine are temporarily stained, and objects appear yellow or pink.
