In the formula, honeysuckle and forsythia clear away heat and detoxify, and are the main drugs; chrysanthemum dispels wind and heat, clears heat and detoxifies, and is the assistant drug; bitter almond relieves cough and resolves phlegm, hawthorn helps digestion and resolves accumulation, and tangerine peel regulates qi and strengthens the spleen. The three drugs are compatible, and have the functions of relieving cough and resolving phlegm, digesting food and resolving accumulation, regulating qi and strengthening the spleen, and are all adjuvant drugs. All the drugs work together to achieve the functions of clearing heat and detoxifying, removing phlegm and relieving cough, and eliminating stagnation and harmonizing the middle.
