Function and Efficacy
Thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH) mainly stimulates the anterior pituitary to promote the secretion of thyrotropin (TSH) and prolactin (PRL).

Indication
Auxiliary use: 1. Diagnosis of hyperthyroidism; 2. Differential diagnosis of the lesions of hypothyroidism; 3. Testing the reserve function of pituitary secretion.
Usage and Dosage
Pituitary TSH secretion function test: Usually adults are given 0.5 mg dissolved in 2 ml of normal saline for intravenous injection, 250 μg/ml each time. Diagnosis is based on the increase in TSH concentration in the blood (△TSH). Reference value: Normal △TSH is generally: 1.6 ~ 9.2 μIU/ml, peak time Tp is 30 minutes. Active reaction: △TSH: 9.2 μIU/ml, Tp = 30min; weak reaction: △TSH: 0.5 ~ 1.6 μIU/ml, Tp = 30min; no reaction: △TSH: < 0.5 μIU/ml, Tp = 30min.
Adverse Reactions
Symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, palpitations, chest tightness, fever, urge to urinate, blurred vision, dry mouth, etc.
Drug Interactions
Its regulation of TSH is affected by dopamine and norepinephrine. Both β-receptor blockers and levodopamine can inhibit it, and bromocriptine also affects its effect.
