Technetium [99mTc] dithiothioate injection
Function and Efficacy
99mTc-DMSA has two components, namely the fast component (complex I) accounts for 20%~30% after intravenous injection, and the slow component (complex II) accounts for 70%~80%. Most of it is combined with plasma proteins after intravenous injection, and its T1/2 in the blood is 45 minutes and 56~62 minutes respectively. About 4%~5% of 99mTc-DMSA in the blood is continuously cleared through the kidneys. After 1 hour, about 50% of 99mTc-DMSA is firmly bound to the renal cortex, and the concentration in the renal cortex maintains a balance for a long period of time within 1~5 hours. When used for renal cortical imaging, the renal cortex is displayed very clearly, and the imaging results are similar to those of 197Hg-neoalcohol. The radiation absorption dose suffered by the patient is greatly reduced, which is only about 1/10 of 197Hg-neoalcohol. Therefore, it is currently the best 99mTc imaging agent for displaying the renal cortex.
