Penciclovir cream
Function and Efficacy
This product is a nucleoside antiviral drug, which has an inhibitory effect on type I and type II herpes simplex viruses in vitro. In virus-infected cells, viral thymidine deoxynucleoside kinase phosphorylates this product into penciclovir monophosphate, and then cellular kinase converts penciclovir monophosphate into penciclovir triphosphate. In vitro experiments have shown that penciclovir triphosphate and deoxyguanosine triphosphate competitively inhibit herpes simplex virus polymerase, thereby selectively inhibiting the synthesis and inhibition of herpes simplex virus DNA. The generation of herpes simplex virus mutants resistant to this product is due to changes in the properties of viral thymidine deoxynucleoside kinase or DNA polymerase. The most common acyclovir-resistant virus mutants lack thymidine kinase, and they are also resistant to this product.
Ingredients
