Mebendazole Tablets

This product is a derivative of benzimidazole. This type of drug has a strong affinity for the beta-tubulin of the insect body and can bind to it at very low concentrations, thereby inhibiting the polymerization of microtubules, causing the disappearance of the epidermis or intestinal cells of the insect body, reducing digestion and reducing the absorption of nutrients such as glucose, leading to the death of the insect body. This drug can also inhibit fumarate reductase in mitochondria, reduce glucose transport, and uncouple oxidative phosphorylation, thereby affecting the production of ATP. This drug has an effect on both adults and eggs.

Mebendazole, its chemical name is: (5-phenylpropionyl-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl) carbamic acid methyl ester

This product is orange-yellow tablets.

Used to treat single and mixed infections of pinworms, ascaris, whipworms, duodenal hookworms, stercoralis and tapeworms.

Usage: Oral. 1. Pinworm disease: 1 tablet per dose. This disease is easy to infect. It is best to repeat the medication once after two weeks and four weeks respectively. 2. Ascariasis, whipworm disease, duodenal hookworm disease and mixed infection: twice a day, one tablet each time, for 3 consecutive days. Both adults and children should take the above dosage. 2. Tapeworm disease and Strongyloides stercoralis: (1) Adults: 2 tablets twice a day, each time, for 3 consecutive days; (2) Children: 1 tablet twice a day, each time, for 3 consecutive days. - No dietary restrictions are required during medication, and no additional laxatives are required.

This product is well tolerated at the recommended dose. For patients with severe parasitic infections, diarrhea and abdominal pain may occur when using this product for treatment. Because this drug is poorly absorbed in the intestine, adverse reactions are rare within the therapeutic dose, and sometimes there may be nausea, abdominal discomfort, abdominal pain, diarrhea and headache, and occasionally fatigue and rash.

Precautions for children: For details on the use of this drug in children over 1 year old, please refer to [Usage and Dosage]. Due to the lack of experience in the use of this product in infants under 1 year old, and occasionally a few children of this age have convulsions after taking this product. This product can only be used for treatment when infants and young children are infected with intestinal worms and their nutritional status and growth and development are affected by carmine. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: In single-dose studies on rats and mice, mebendazole showed embryotoxicity and teratogenicity. In other experimental animal species, mebendazole has not been found to damage reproductive function. When prescribing this product to pregnant women (especially pregnant women within three months of pregnancy), the pros and cons should be weighed. The absorption of mebendazole is limited, and there is no data to show whether mebendazole is excreted through breast milk. Lactating women should weigh the pros and cons and use it with caution. Precautions for the elderly: The medication for elderly patients is the same as that for adults.

When used in combination with cimetidine, it may inhibit the liver metabolism of mebendazole, causing an increase in the plasma concentration of this product, especially during a long course of treatment.
