Silver sulfadiazine cream

This product is a sulfonamide antibiotic with the dual effects of sulfadiazine and silver salt. It has antibacterial activity against most Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, and has a convergence effect, which can dry the wound surface, form scabs and heal early.

The main ingredient of this product is silver sulfadiazine, and its chemical name is N-2-pyrimidinyl-4-aminobenzenesulfonamide silver salt.

This product is a white cream with an emulsion base.

This product is used to prevent or treat secondary wound infections caused by II and III degree burns, including those caused by Enterobacteriaceae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus, Candida and other fungi that are sensitive to this drug.

This product can be directly applied to the wound surface as a cream, about 1.5mm thick, or it can be made into a suspension and applied with oil gauze, with the dressing changed once every 1 to 2 days.

1. Allergic reactions such as local irritation, rash, dermatitis, drug fever, muscle pain, serum sickness-like reaction, etc. may be seen. 2. Since this product may be partially absorbed after topical application, granulocytopenia and thrombocytopenia, aplastic anemia, inflammation, liver dysfunction, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea may occur.

It is contraindicated in patients allergic to sulfonamides.

This product can be absorbed locally, and its drug interaction is the same as that of systemic sulfadiazine. 1. When used in combination with urine alkalinizing drugs, the solubility of this product in alkaline urine can be enhanced, which increases excretion. 2. It cannot be used in combination with p-aminobenzoic acid, which can replace this product for bacterial uptake, and the two are mutually antagonistic. It is also not suitable to be used in combination with local anesthetics containing p-aminobenzoyl such as procaine, benzocaine, tetracaine, etc. 3. When used in combination with oral anticoagulants, oral hypoglycemic drugs, methotrexate, phenytoin sodium and thiopental sodium, the above drugs need to adjust the dosage, because this product can replace the protein binding sites of these drugs, or inhibit their metabolism, resulting in prolonged drug action time or toxicity. 4. When used in combination with bone marrow suppressive drugs, the potential toxic side effects of such drugs may be enhanced. If there is an indication for the simultaneous use of two types of drugs, the possible toxic reactions should be closely observed. 5. Long-term use with contraceptives (estrogens) can reduce the reliability of contraception and increase the chance of extramenstrual bleeding. 6. When used in combination with thrombolytic drugs, its potential toxic effects may be increased. 7. When used in combination with hepatotoxic drugs, it may cause an increase in the incidence of hepatotoxicity. Such patients, especially those who have been taking the drug for a long time and have a history of liver disease, should be closely monitored. 8. Insensitive interactions may occur when used in combination with photosensitive drugs. 9. Patients receiving this product have an increased need for vitamin K. 10. It should not be used in combination with methenamine, because methenamine can decompose in acidic urine to produce formaldehyde, which can form insoluble precipitates with this product, increasing the risk of crystalluria. 11. This product can replace the plasma protein binding site of phenylbutazone, and the combination of the two can increase the effect of phenylbutazone. 12. Because this product may interfere with the bactericidal effect of penicillins, it is best to avoid using it simultaneously with such drugs. 13. When sulfinpyrazone is used in combination with this product, the secretion of this product from the renal tubules may be reduced, and its blood concentration may increase and last or produce toxicity. Therefore, the dose of this product may need to be adjusted during or after the use of sulfinpyrazone.
