Ampicillin Probenecid Capsules

This product is effective against a variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis (including resistant and some methicillin-resistant strains), Pneumococcus, Streptococcus faecalis and other Streptococcus; Gram-negative bacteria include Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Blanhamella, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Proteus mirabilis, etc.; anaerobic bacteria include Bacillus fragilis. Ampicillin is the bactericidal ingredient in this product, which acts on the active reproduction stage of bacteria and has a bactericidal effect by inhibiting the biosynthesis of cell wall mucopeptides. Probenecid is a benzoic acid derivative, which competes with ampicillin for the same active transport carrier in the renal tubules, inhibiting the latter's excretion from the renal tubules, increasing the blood concentration of ampicillin, and prolonging its blood elimination half-life (t1/2β is 1-1.5 hours).

This product is a compound preparation, each tablet contains the active ingredients ampicillin 194.5 mg and probenecid 55.5 mg.

This product is a hard capsule, and the contents are white powder.

This product is suitable for the following infections caused by sensitive pathogenic bacteria: 1. Respiratory tract infections: upper respiratory tract infections, bacterial pneumonia, bronchitis, etc.; 2. Urinary tract infections: cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis, prostatitis, etc.; 3. Digestive tract infections: bacterial dysentery, etc.; 4. Ear, nose and throat infections: acute pharyngitis, tonsillitis, otitis media, sinusitis, etc.; 5. Skin and soft tissue infections; 6. Gonorrhea.

For adults, take orally: 0.75 g at a time, 3 times a day. For gonorrhea: take orally 4.5 g (3.5 g ampicillin, 1 g probenecid) at a time.

1. The adverse reactions of this product are similar to those of penicillin, with allergic reactions being more common. Rash is the most common reaction, which usually occurs 5 days after medication, in the form of urticaria or maculopapular rash; interstitial nephritis may also occur; anaphylactic shock is occasionally seen. 2. Gastrointestinal reactions such as glossitis, gastritis, nausea, vomiting, enteritis, diarrhea and mild diarrhea are also common. 3. Granulocytopenia and thrombocytopenia are occasionally seen in patients taking ampicillin. Antibiotic-related enteritis is rare, and a few patients have elevated serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT).

1. Patients who are allergic to penicillins or cephalosporins or have a positive penicillin skin test are prohibited from using this product. 2. Patients with uric acid kidney stones, acute gout attacks, and active gastrointestinal ulcers are prohibited from using this product. Children under 32 years old are prohibited from using this product.

Precautions for children: Children under 2 years old are prohibited from taking this medicine. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: There are no strict controlled trials for the use of ampicillin in pregnant women, so pregnant women should only use this medicine when it is necessary. A small amount of ampicillin can be secreted from breast milk, so breastfeeding should be suspended when taking this medicine. Precautions for the elderly: Due to the decline of physiological renal function, the dosage should be appropriately reduced.

1. Ampicillin and kanamycin have synergistic antibacterial effects against Escherichia coli and Bacillus proteus. 2. Ampicillin can stimulate estrogen metabolism or reduce its enterohepatic circulation, thus reducing the effectiveness of oral contraceptives. 3. Combination with allopurinol can increase the incidence of ampicillin rash, especially in hyperuricemia. 4. When used in combination with chloramphenicol for bacterial meningitis, the incidence of long-term sequelae is higher than when either is used alone. 5. Probenecid can affect the metabolism of rifampicin and heparin, increasing the toxicity of the latter. 6. When used in combination with methotrexate and sulfonamides, probenecid can increase the blood concentration of the latter and increase toxicity. 7. When used in combination with oral hypoglycemic drugs, the latter can enhance their hypoglycemic effect. 8. Probenecid can inhibit the excretion of penicillin, indomethacin, naproxen, and chlorphenesin by the renal tubules. Combination of the two will increase the blood concentration of the above drugs and increase their toxicity. 9. When used in combination with salicylates and aspirin, it may inhibit the effect of probenecid. 10. When used in combination with diuretics and pyrazinamide, it may increase the concentration of uric acid in the blood. 11. When used in combination with erythromycin and tetracycline, it may interact with the drug.
