Function and Efficacy
Acipimox is a derivative of nicotinic acid, which can inhibit the decomposition of adipose tissue, reduce the release of free fatty acids from adipose tissue, thereby reducing the synthesis of triglycerides (TG) in the liver, and by inhibiting the synthesis of very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) and low-density lipoprotein (LDL), the concentration of triglycerides (TG) and total cholesterol (TC) in the blood decreases. This product can also inhibit the activity of liver lipase and reduce the decomposition of high-density lipoprotein (HDL).

Indication
This product can be used to treat hypertriglyceridemia (type IV), hypercholesterolemia (type IIa), and hypertriglyceridemia combined with hypercholesterolemia (type IIb).
Usage and Dosage
The recommended dose is 1 capsule at a time, 2 to 3 times a day, taken during or after meals. The lower dose is used for type IV hypertriglyceridemia, and the higher dose is used for type IIa and IIb hypercholesterolemia. Usually within one month of medication, blood lipid status will improve. Foreign literature reports that the daily safe dose for long-term use can reach 1200 mg.
Adverse Reactions
This product can cause skin vasodilation and increase sensitivity to heat in the early stage of treatment, such as facial hot flashes or limb itching. These symptoms usually disappear within a few days after treatment and do not need to be discontinued. Occasionally, moderate gastrointestinal reactions (heartburn, upper abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, dry eyes and urticaria) and headaches have been reported. Very few patients have local or systemic allergic reactions (such as rash, urticaria, maculopapular rash, lip edema, asthma-like dyspnea, hypotension, etc.), which should be discontinued immediately and symptomatic treatment should be given.
Precautions
It is contraindicated for people who are allergic to this product, have gastrointestinal ulcers, pregnant women, lactating women and children.
