Function and Efficacy

This product is a sterile clear solution made by combining insulin, globin (obtained from bovine hemoglobin) and zinc chloride. It starts to work 2 to 4 hours after subcutaneous injection, reaches its peak in 6 to 10 hours, and lasts for 12 to 18 hours.

Ingredients

Main ingredients: This product is a sterile suspension of insulin (porcine or bovine) containing protamine and zinc chloride. Each 100 units contains 1.0-1.5 mg of protamine and 0.2-0.25 mg of zinc.

Indication

Its application and precautions are the same as those of low-protamine zinc insulin. It should not be mixed with other insulin preparations. Low-protamine zinc insulin is used for general moderate and mild diabetes patients. It is used in combination with insulin for severe patients. It is helpful to reduce the number of daily insulin injections and control nocturnal hyperglycemia.

Usage and Dosage

Subcutaneous injection, once a day before breakfast, preferably starting with a small dose. The dose depends on the condition. If more than 40 units a day, it should be divided into 2 doses.

Adverse Reactions

1. Hypoglycemia reaction: It is caused by improper use of insulin. Hypoglycemia reaction is prone to occur when taking too much insulin, not eating in time after insulin injection, or engaging in strenuous physical activity (increased muscle glucose uptake). The early symptoms of hypoglycemia reaction are weakness, hunger, dizziness, cold sweats, pale skin, palpitations, excitement, hand tremors, nervousness, headaches, tremors and other symptoms similar to sympathetic nerve excitement; further developing into depression, inattention, drowsiness, lack of judgment and self-control, forgetfulness, and may also have hemiplegia, ataxia, tachycardia, diplopia, paresthesia, and severe cases may cause convulsions and coma. 2. Allergic reaction: Allergic reaction can be systemic or localized. Localized allergies are manifested as erythema, papules, and nodules at the injection site, which generally occur after insulin injection.
