Ibandronate

Main ingredients: Ibandronate sodium. Excipients: Sodium chloride, acetic acid, sodium acetate, water for injection

For the treatment of hypercalcemia caused by malignant tumors with or without bone metastases.

This product should be used in hospitals. This product is used for hypercalcemia: Before treatment with this product, 0.9% normal saline should be appropriately given for hydration therapy. The dosage of this product should be determined according to the degree of hypercalcemia and the type of tumor. In most patients with severe hypercalcemia (blood calcium*≥3mmol/L or 12mg/dl after albumin correction), a single dose of 4mg can be given; in patients with moderate hypercalcemia (blood calcium <3mmol/L or <12mg/dl after albumin correction), 2mg is the effective dose; the highest dose in foreign clinical studies is 16mg, but this dose does not further increase the efficacy. *Serum calcium corrected by albumin (mmol/L) = serum calcium (mmol/L) - [0.02×albumin (g/l)] + 0.8 or *Serum calcium corrected by albumin (mg/dl) = serum calcium (mg/dl) + 0.8×[4-self-protein (g/dl)] In most patients, the elevated serum calcium level drops to the normal range within 7 days. In patients who received 2-4 mg, the average number of days for relapse (blood calcium level corrected by albumin increased again to >3mmol/L) was 18-19 days. In patients who received up to 6 mg, the average number of days for relapse was 26 days. This product should be diluted in 500-700 ml of 0.9% saline or 50% glucose solution without calcium ions, and slowly dripped intravenously for no less than 2 hours. In general, this product is only used once. If necessary, it can be reused according to the doctor's advice. For the treatment of hypercalcemia, 50 patients received a second treatment. Patients with recurrence of hypercalcemia or poor efficacy may consider re-administering the drug for treatment. This product is used to treat bone pain: 4 mg is diluted in 500 ml of 0.9% saline or 5% glucose solution without calcium ions, and the drip time is no less than 4 hours.

A few patients may experience elevated body temperature and sometimes flu-like symptoms, such as fever, chills, and bone and/or muscle pain. In most cases, no specific treatment is needed and the symptoms disappear on their own after a few hours or days. Gastrointestinal discomfort may also occur in some cases. Due to reduced renal calcium excretion, it is often accompanied by a decrease in serum phosphate levels (usually without treatment). The serum calcium level may drop below normal.

1. Patients who are allergic to this product or other bisphosphonates are contraindicated. 2. The pregnancy safety classification of this product is C, and pregnant women are contraindicated. 3. Children and lactating women are contraindicated. 4. Patients with severe renal insufficiency (serum creatinine 5mg/dl) are contraindicated.

Precautions during pregnancy and lactation: Pregnant and lactating women are prohibited from using.
