Function and Efficacy

This product is a second-generation sulfonylurea oral hypoglycemic drug. It can promote the secretion of insulin by pancreatic beta cells and enhance the effect of insulin on target tissues; it can also stimulate pancreatic alpha cells to inhibit the secretion of glucagon, inhibit the decomposition of liver glycogen, and promote muscle utilization and consumption of glucose.

The main ingredient of this product is: Glipizide. Its chemical name is: 1-cyclohexyl-3-{4-[2-(5-methylpyrazine-2-amide)-ethyl]benzenesulfonyl}urea.

Appearance

The content of this product is white powder, which disintegrates rapidly in water.

Indication

Used for type 2 diabetes.

Usage and Dosage

The oral dosage varies from person to person. The generally recommended dosage is 2.5~20mg/day, taken 30 minutes before breakfast. If the daily dosage exceeds 15mg, it is advisable to take it three times before meals in the morning, noon and evening. For those who have failed diet therapy alone: the starting dosage is 2.5~5mg per day, and the dosage is increased or decreased according to the blood sugar and urine sugar situation, increasing or decreasing by 2.5~5.0mg each time. If the daily dosage exceeds 15mg, take it 2~3 times before meals. For those who have used other oral sulfonylurea hypoglycemic drugs: stop taking other sulfonylurea drugs for 3 days, and start taking this product after rechecking blood sugar. Gradually increase the dosage from 5mg until the ideal therapeutic effect is achieved. The maximum daily dose does not exceed 30mg.

Adverse Reactions

1. The most common symptoms are gastrointestinal symptoms (such as nausea, upper abdominal distension), headache, etc., which can be relieved by reducing the dose. 2. Some patients may experience skin allergies. 3. Hypoglycemia is occasionally seen, especially in the elderly and weak, those who are overactive, those who eat irregularly, drink alcohol, or have liver damage. 4. There are also occasional reports of reversible changes in the hematopoietic system.

Precautions

11. Type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, pre-diabetic coma or coma. 2. Patients with liver dysfunction, adrenal insufficiency and allergic reaction to this product are contraindicated.

Drug Interactions

1. This drug can increase its hypoglycemic effect when used in combination with coumarins, monoamine oxidase inhibitors, phenylbutazone, sulfonamides, chloramphenicol, cyclophosphamide, probenecid, and salicylic acid drugs. 2. When used in combination with adrenaline, adrenocortical hormones, oral contraceptives, and thiazide diuretics, its hypoglycemic effect can be reduced. 3. Be cautious when using it in combination with beta-blockers. 4. Gastrointestinal diseases that shorten the retention time of this product in the gastrointestinal tract can affect the pharmacokinetics and efficacy of this product.
