Cefuroxime Sodium
Function and Efficacy
This product is a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. The antibacterial activity of ceftriaxone sodium is only 1/5 (1/10) of that of cefadroxil. Ceftriaxone sodium is rapidly hydrolyzed into ceftriaxone after entering the body, so the antibacterial effects of the two in the body are basically the same. Ceftriaxone has a strong antibacterial effect on most Gram-positive cocci, and its activity is similar to that of cephalothin and cefazolin. Enterococci and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus are resistant to this product. This product has a good effect on diphtheria Corynebacterium and Gram-positive anaerobic bacteria (anaerobic cocci and Clostridium), and its activity against Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenzae is higher than that of cephalothin and cefazolin. Lin Weiqiang, some aerogenes Enterobacter, indole-positive Proteus and Providencia are sensitive to this product. Typhoid Salmonella, Shigella, Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Neisseria meningitidis are also very sensitive to this product, and the antibacterial effect on Bacteroides fragilis is poor. Serratia, Alcaligenes, Acinetobacter and Pseudomonas aeruginosa are resistant to this product. Its mechanism of action is to bind to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) on the bacterial cell membrane, acylate transpeptidase, inhibit the synthesis of bacterial septum and cell wall, affect the cross-linking of cell wall mucopeptide components, inhibit cell division and growth, elongate the bacterial morphology, and finally dissolve and die.

Indication
It is suitable for lung infections, urinary tract infections, bile tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, sepsis, abdominal infections, etc. caused by sensitive bacteria.
Usage and Dosage
Intravenous injection or drip: Adults with general infection: 0.5-1g per time, 4 times a day; Severe infection: 1g per time, 6 times a day. Extremely severe infection: 12g can be used per day. Children’s daily dose is generally 50-100mg per kilogram of body weight. Extremely severe infection can be given at 200-250mg per kilogram of body weight, divided into several doses.
Adverse Reactions
1. Drinking alcohol during medication may cause nausea, vomiting, headache, flushing, hypotension and dyspnea, so avoid drinking alcohol. 2. Occasionally may cause allergic reactions, such as urticaria and drug fever. Patients who are allergic to cephalosporins are prohibited from using this drug. Patients with allergic constitution or penicillin should use this drug with caution. 3. Patients with renal insufficiency should use this drug in reduced dosage. 4. Pregnant women and infants under 3 months old should use this drug with caution. 5. Intramuscular injection may cause local pain and occasionally thrombophlebitis.
Precautions
Patients who are allergic to cephalosporins are contraindicated. Patients with allergic constitution or allergic to penicillin should use with caution. Patients with renal insufficiency should use it in a reduced dose.
Drug Interactions
It is a second-generation cephalosporin. In addition to having the same effects as cefazolin, it also has antibacterial effects on some Gram-positive bacteria. The antibacterial spectrum is similar to that of cephalothin, but it is not as effective as cephalothin on Gram-positive cocci. The main feature of this product is that it has a strong effect on Gram-negative bacteria, which is worse than cefazolin. It has a strong effect on anaerobic Clostridium, meningococci, gonococci, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, influenza bacilli and indole-positive Proteus, especially on Haemophilus. This product is most effective. It is mainly used clinically for various infections caused by sensitive bacteria, such as respiratory tract infections, biliary tract infections, pyelonephritis, urinary tract infections, peritonitis, sepsis, and skin, soft tissue, bone, joint and other infections. Due to the high concentration of urine drug, it is highly effective against urinary tract infections.
