Sulbenzyl penicillin is a broad-spectrum semi-synthetic penicillin antibiotic. It has antibacterial effects on Enterobacteriaceae such as Escherichia coli, Proteus, Enterobacter, Citrobacter, Salmonella and Shigella, as well as other Gram-negative bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Haemophilus influenzae and Neisseria. This product also has antibacterial activity against hemolytic streptococci, Streptococcus pneumoniae and non-penicillinase-producing Staphylococci. This product also has a certain effect on anaerobic bacteria including Peptostreptococci and Clostridium. The mechanism of action of sulbenzyl penicillin is to exert a bactericidal effect by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis.

Appearance

This product is white or light yellow freeze-dried powder.

Indication

It is mainly suitable for pneumonia, urinary tract infection, complicated skin and soft tissue infection and sepsis caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, some Proteus and other sensitive Gram-negative bacteria that are sensitive to this product. Abdominal infection and pelvic infection caused by bacteria that are sensitive to this product should be used in combination with anti-anaerobic drugs.

Usage and Dosage

Intravenous drip or intravenous injection; the daily dose for adults with moderate infection is 8g. In severe infection or Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection, the dose needs to be increased to 20g per day, administered intravenously in 4 divided doses; for children, the daily dose is 80-300mg/kg per body weight, administered in 4 divided doses, depending on the condition.

Adverse Reactions

1. Allergic reactions are common, including rash, fever, etc.; anaphylactic shock is rare. Once it occurs, emergency treatment must be given on the spot, including maintaining airway patency, oxygen inhalation, and administration of epinephrine, glucocorticoids, etc.; 2. Gastrointestinal reactions such as nausea and vomiting; 3. Laboratory test abnormalities include leukopenia or neutropenia, transient increase in serum transaminase, etc.

Precautions

It is contraindicated in patients with a history of allergy to penicillins or a positive penicillin skin test.

Special Population Medication

Precautions during pregnancy and lactation: There is a lack of safety data on the use of this product in pregnant women. Pregnant women should use this product only when it is necessary.
