Ethacridine Lactate Injection

Function and Efficacy

This product is administered intra-amniotically and intrauterinely. The drug can cause necrosis of intrauterine decidual tissue and produce endogenous prostaglandins, causing uterine contraction. Ethacridone (Rivanol) also has a direct excitatory effect on uterine muscles.

Ingredients

Lactic acid salt of alpha;-ethoxy-6,9-diaminoacridine.

Indication

Mid-pregnancy induction drugs are used to terminate pregnancies between 12 and 26 weeks.

Usage and Dosage

1. Intra-amniotic cavity medication After emptying the bladder, the pregnant woman takes a supine position, selects the most prominent part of the uterus, and the place where the amniotic fluid fluctuates significantly is the puncture point. Use gauze to hold the No. 7 lumbar puncture needle and pierce it vertically into the abdominal wall. There is a sense of emptiness when entering the amniotic cavity. Continue to insert the needle 0.5-1cm and then pull out the needle core. After the amniotic fluid gushes out, connect the syringe filled with 100mg of rivanol solution to the puncture needle, and then draw back the amniotic fluid to confirm that it is correct and slowly inject the drug solution. The amniotic fluid must be drawn back before withdrawing the needle. Before withdrawing the needle, insert the needle core into the needle and quickly withdraw the needle, cover it with sterilized gauze, and gently press the needle eye. 2. Intra-uterine cavity and extra-amniotic cavity medication After the pregnant woman empties the bladder, she takes the lithotomy position. After routine disinfection of the vulva, vagina, and cervix, clamp the anterior lip of the cervix with a cervical clamp, and send the rubber catheter along the cervix into the uterine cavity. Inject 100ml of the prepared rivanol solution (containing 100mg of the drug, diluted with water for injection) into the catheter. The lower end of the catheter is doubled and tied tightly with thread, rolled up in the vagina, and a piece of gauze is inserted to secure it. The gauze and catheter are removed 24 hours after the operation.

Adverse Reactions

1. Poisoning manifests as oliguria, anuria and jaundice, and serious damage to liver and kidney functions; 2. About 3% to 4% of pregnant women have a fever of over 38°C; 3. Bleeding. Induced labor with rivanol is prone to retained placenta or partial placenta and fetal membranes, causing massive bleeding; 4. The incidence of soft birth canal injury is 0.5% to 3%, most commonly cervical laceration or perforation of the anterior or posterior wall of the cervical canal; 5. Very few pregnant women have allergic reactions.
