Megestrol acetate soft capsules
Function and Efficacy
This product is a semi-synthetic progesterone derivative, which has a certain inhibitory effect on hormone-dependent tumors. Its mechanism of action is the same as that of medroxyprogesterone, which may be through the influence of pituitary gonadotropin secretion, controlling the development and growth of ovarian follicles, thereby reducing the production of estrogen. It acts on estrogen receptors, preventing their synthesis and reuse, interfering with their binding with estrogen, and inhibiting tumor cell growth. In addition, it can also antagonize glucocorticoid receptors and interfere with the interaction between steroid hormone receptors and regulatory proteins related to cell growth and differentiation.
