Ribavirin Dispersible Tablets

Pharmacology: Broad-spectrum antiviral drug. It has the effect of inhibiting the growth of multiple viruses such as respiratory syncytial virus, influenza virus, hepatitis A virus, adenovirus, etc. in vitro, and its mechanism is not fully understood. This product does not change the adsorption, invasion and uncoating of viruses, nor does it induce the production of interferon. After entering the virus-infected cells, the drug is rapidly phosphorylated, and its product acts as a competitive inhibitor of viral synthase, inhibiting inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase, influenza virus RNA polymerase and mRNA guanosine transferase, thereby causing a decrease in intracellular guanosine triphosphate, impairing viral RNA and protein synthesis, and inhibiting viral replication and transmission. It may also have an immune effect and neutralizing antibody effect on respiratory syncytial virus.

The main ingredient of this product is ribavirin, whose chemical name is 1-beta;-D-ribofuranosyl-1H-1,2,4-triazole-3-carboxamide.

This product is white tablets.

It is suitable for viral pneumonia and bronchitis caused by respiratory syncytial virus, and herpes virus infection of the skin.

Oral 1. Viral respiratory tract infection: Adults take 0.15g once, 3 times a day, for a course of 7 days. 2. Skin herpes virus infection: Adults take 0.3g once, 3 times a day, for a course of 7 days. 3. Children take 10mg/kg per day, divided into 4 doses, for a course of 7 days.

Common adverse reactions include anemia and fatigue, which disappear after stopping the drug. Less common adverse reactions include fatigue, headache, insomnia, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, mild diarrhea, constipation, etc., and can cause a decrease in red blood cells, white blood cells and hemoglobin.

It is forbidden for people who are allergic to this product and pregnant women.

Precautions for children: The oral dose for children under 6 years old has not been determined. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: 1. This product has a strong teratogenic effect. A daily dose of 1mg/Kg in rabbits can cause embryo damage, so it is forbidden to use it in pregnant women and women who may become pregnant (this product is eliminated very slowly in the body and cannot be completely eliminated from the body 4 weeks after stopping the drug). 2. A small amount of the drug is excreted through breast milk and is toxic to both mother and offspring. Therefore, breastfeeding women should stop breastfeeding during the medication period and the breast milk should also be discarded. Since respiratory syncytial virus infection in lactating women is self-limiting, this product is not used in such cases. Precautions for the elderly: It is not recommended for the elderly.

This product has an antagonistic effect when used together with zidovudine, because this product can inhibit the conversion of zidovudine into active zidovudine phosphate.
