Drug Interactions
1. Drinking a lot of alcoholic and caffeinated beverages and smoking a lot will inhibit the absorption of oral calcium. 2. Eating a lot of cellulose-containing foods can inhibit calcium absorption, because calcium combines with cellulose to form compounds that are not easily absorbed. 3. When this product is used together with phenytoin or fluoride, the absorption of both is reduced. 4. When used together with tetracycline, calcitonin or cellulose sulfate, their absorption or efficacy can be reduced. 5. Vitamin D, contraceptives, and estrogen can increase calcium absorption. 6. When aluminum-containing antacids are taken together with this product, aluminum absorption increases. 7. When this product is used together with thiazide diuretics, hypercalcemia is likely to occur (due to increased renal tubular calcium reabsorption). 8. When this product is used together with potassium-containing drugs, attention should be paid to the occurrence of arrhythmias. 9. When used together with calcium channel blockers (such as nifedipine), blood calcium can be significantly increased to above normal, but the effect of verapamil hydrochloride and the like is reduced. 10. When used in combination with other calcium- or magnesium-containing drugs, hypercalcemia or hypermagnesemia may occur, especially in patients with renal insufficiency.
