Iodized Oil Injection

Pharmacological action: This product is a diagnostic drug and is also used to prevent and treat endemic goiter. 1 After being injected into the body, this product can absorb more X-rays than the surrounding soft tissue structures, thus forming a density contrast under X-ray irradiation, showing the morphological structure of the cavity. 2 Iodine is the raw material for synthesizing thyroid hormones. Therapeutic and preventive doses of iodine can make up for the lack of iodine in food, so that the synthesis and secretion of thyroid hormones can be maintained or gradually restored to normal levels, and the gland will shrink accordingly, thereby treating endemic goiter.

This product is a compound preparation, its components are: vegetable oil and an organic iodine compound combined with iodine, the iodine (Ⅰ) content should be 37.0% to 41.0% (g/g). Each vial should contain about 2.96g to 3.28g of iodine (Ⅰ).

Positive contrast agent for X-ray diagnosis. Used for bronchography, hysterosalpingography, sinusography, parotid duct and other cavities and fistulas, and also for the prevention and treatment of endemic goiter, endemic cretinism and embolization therapy of liver malignancies.

1 Bronchography is injected directly into the trachea or bronchial cavity through the endotracheal catheter. Adults use 15ml~20ml (40%) on one side and 30ml~40ml on both sides; children use less. The injection should be slow, and the position should be used to fill each lobe of the bronchus. 2 Hysterosalpingography is injected directly into the uterine cavity through the cervical canal, 5~20ml (40%). 3 Various cavities (such as paranasal sinuses, parotid ducts, lacrimal ducts, etc.) and sinus tracts, fistulas are injected directly according to the size of the lesion; 4. Deep intramuscular injection for the prevention and treatment of endemic goiter, the common dosage for adults: 1000mg iodine or 3ml (30%); the common dosage for children: 125mg iodine for children under 1 year old, 250mg iodine for 1 to 4 years old, 750mg iodine for 5 to 9 years old, and the dosage for adults for those over 10 years old.

1. Occasionally, allergic reactions to iodine occur immediately or several hours after administration, and are mainly manifested by symptoms such as angioedema, respiratory mucosal irritation, swelling, and increased secretions; 2. Iodized oil has a mild irritation to tissues and generally does not cause local symptoms, but it can irritate the mucosa and cause coughing when it enters the bronchi. After the free iodine is precipitated, the irritation increases, and iodine poisoning is prone to occur; 3. Iodine agents can worsen tuberculosis lesions; 4. This product can cause foreign body reactions and form granulomas when it enters the alveoli, abdominal cavity and other tissues; 5. Hysterosalpingography with iodized oil may cause iodized oil to enter the blood vessels, resulting in pulmonary embolism, pelvic adhesions, and worsening of tuberculous pelvic abscesses.

1. Patients allergic to iodine are prohibited from using this device. 2. Patients with hyperthyroidism, nodular goiter in the elderly, thyroid tumors, severe heart, liver, lung diseases, acute bronchitis and fever are prohibited from using this device. 3. Patients with recent severe hemoptysis, acute respiratory infection or pneumonia, high fever, severe lung function impairment or extremely weak constitution are prohibited from using this device. Patients with hysterosalpingography are prohibited from using this device in the following situations: menstruation or other uterine bleeding, pregnancy (can cause miscarriage).
