Function and Efficacy
It is not easily absorbed by the intestines when taken orally, and stays in the intestinal cavity, increasing the osmotic pressure of the intestinal contents, making the intestinal cavity retain a large amount of water, increasing the volume, stimulating the intestinal wall to increase intestinal peristalsis and causing diarrhea. It is a strong laxative, mainly used to remove toxins in the intestine, and also used for catharsis after taking certain anthelmintics, and to treat constipation.

Appearance
This product is colorless crystals; odorless, bitter and salty; efflorescent. This product is easily soluble in water and almost insoluble in ethanol.
Indication
1. Used for constipation and abnormal intestinal fermentation; can also be used with anthelmintics; used in combination with activated carbon, it can treat food or drug poisoning; 2. Used for obstructive jaundice and chronic cholecystitis.
Usage and Dosage
For catharsis, take 5-20g each time; take on an empty stomach in the morning; for choleretic, take 2-5g each time, 3 times a day.
Adverse Reactions
If the concentration is too high during catharsis, it may cause dehydration; ulcers and damage to the gastrointestinal tract may easily lead to excessive absorption of magnesium ions and cause poisoning.

Special Population Medication
Precautions for children: Children should take 1-5g of the drug and drink plenty of water. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: It is forbidden for lactating women.
Drug Interactions
Drugs that are contraindicated with magnesium sulfate include polymyxin B sulfate, streptomycin sulfate, calcium gluconate, dobutamine hydrochloride, procaine hydrochloride, tetracycline, penicillin, and nafcillin (ethoxynaphthalene penicillin).
