Function and Efficacy
Vitamin E is an essential nutrient, and its exact function is still unknown. It is an antioxidant that can bind to selenium in the diet to prevent polyunsaturated fatty acids in membranes and other cell structures from being damaged by free radicals; it can protect red blood cells from hemolysis, protect nerves and muscles from damage by oxygen free radicals, and maintain the normal development and function of nerves and muscles. It may also be a cofactor for certain enzyme systems.

Appearance
The content of this product is light yellow to yellow oily liquid.
Indication
1. For newborns, premature infants, and low birth weight infants born to mothers who do not eat fortified milk powder or have severe fat malabsorption. 2. Routine use of this product in immature infants and low birth weight infants can prevent hemolytic anemia caused by vitamin E deficiency, and can reduce the formation of retrobulbar fibrous tissue (which can cause blindness) and bronchial-pulmonary system dysplasia caused by oxygen poisoning. However, some people believe that the above effects need further research and confirmation. 3. For the adjuvant treatment of progressive muscular dystrophy.
Usage and Dosage
Oral administration: 1. Adults: (1) Daily requirement of vitamin E: 10 mg (16.7 U) for male adults, 8 mg (13 U) for female adults, 10 mg (16.7 U) for pregnant women, 11-12 mg (18-20 U) for nursing mothers. The above doses can be provided in normal diet. (2) Vitamin E deficiency: The therapeutic dose varies with the degree of deficiency. Common dosage: 10-100 mg once for adults, 2-3 times a day. 2. Children: (1) Daily requirement of vitamin E: 3-6 mg (5-10 U for alpha-TE below) for newborns to 3 years old, 7 mg (11.7 U) for 4-10 years old. (2) Vitamin E deficiency: 1 mg/kg per day for children, 15-20 mg per day for premature infants. Infants with chronic cholestasis should take 15-25 mg of water-soluble vitamin E preparation orally every day.
Adverse Reactions
1. Long-term use of large amounts (400-800 mg per day) can cause blurred vision, breast enlargement, diarrhea, dizziness, flu-like syndrome, headache, nausea, stomach cramps, fatigue and weakness. 2. Long-term use of excessive amounts (more than 800 mg per day) can cause bleeding tendency, change endocrine metabolism (thyroid, pituitary and adrenal glands), change immune mechanism, affect sexual function, and there is a risk of thrombophlebitis or embolism in patients with vitamin K deficiency.

Drug Interactions
1. This product can promote the absorption, utilization and liver storage of vitamin A. 2. Drugs that reduce or affect fat absorption, such as cholestyramine, neomycin and sucralfate, can interfere with the absorption of this product and should not be taken together. 3. Oral contraceptives can accelerate the metabolism of vitamin E and lead to vitamin E deficiency. 4. When estrogen is used with this product, if the dosage is large and the treatment course is long, it can induce thrombophlebitis. 5. Avoid using this product with dicoumarol and its derivatives to prevent the occurrence of hypoprothrombinemia. 6. If used with other drugs at the same time, drug interactions may occur.
